Risk of heart attack after Suhoor during Ramadan

Dr. Timur Timurkaynak Professor of Cardiology who noted that the heart attack complication coincided with the hours after Ramadan, emphasized that heart and high blood pressure patients can experience paralysis and heart attack if they fast without being under control.

Heart and high blood pressure patients who are not get checked by  the doctor before the fasting will bring serious risks indicating that Prof. Dr. Timurkaynak said, “Those who have uncontrolled heart and blood pressure problems, those who have had a recent heart attack, those who have bypass surgery, and those with uncontrolled heart failure may develop heart failure, blood pressure can rise too much and cause paralysis, cerebral bleeding, heart failure and death events may occur, “he said.

Professor. Dr. Timurkaynak indicated that if heart and high blood pressure disease can be kept under control, fasting activity can be maintained by doctor examination. He pointed out the importance of determining the changes in the dose of the medication taken to determine whether the patient can fast or not by putting the risks before the fasting is absolutely necessary.

HEAVY MEALS AND FASTING WITHOUT SUHOOR TRIGGERS HEART ATTACK

Prof. Dr. Timur Timurkaynak said frequently eaten heavy meals at iftaree, increased risk of heart attacks, “If after the meal, the pain in the chest area exceeds 15 minutes and if the nausea and sweating observed, you should definitely apply to a health center that does angiography for 24 hours against the possibility of a heart attack. Suhoor meal should be eaten absolutely to reduce the risk of heart attack,”

NOURISHMENT IS NOT CHANGING IN RAMADAN

Professor Dr. Timur Timurkaynak who indicated that there is no special nutrition menu for Ramadan for heart and high blood pressure patients who do not mind fasting after doctor check.  He added “in the days outside Ramadan heart health, high blood pressure in terms of how they will be nourished the same way. They only eat 2 meals instead of 3 meals. Fibrous foods, legumes, vegetables, fruits, abundant liquids, walnuts, hazelnuts, olive oil, fish are the basic nutrients of these patients. In Ramadan, salty and ready-to-eat foods should be avoided. Ramadan coincides with the long summer. The person is hungry for 16 hours. He should be nourished so that he can withstand long hunger periods. “

SLEEP FOR 30 MINUTES AT LUNCHTIME

Professor  Dr. Timurkaynak reminded that half an hour of sleep is important and that you should not go out in hot weather.He warned that exercises should be eased during Ramadan, cultural physics movements and running on the band should be avoided.

INSUFFICIENT LIQUID FOR IFTAREE AND SUHOOR REDUCES BLOOD PRESSURE

“Liquid loss will increase and weakness and fatigue will be more obvious. Blood pressure patients may experience drop in blood pressure due to fluid loss. For this reason, at iftaree and suhoor rich fluid intake should not be neglected, “said Professor Dr. Timur Timurkaynak, heart, blood pressure and diuretic medications for the month of Ramadan can be adjusted again by doctor.

HEALHY IFTAREE AND SUHOOR MENU

Nutrients that should be present in iftaree and suhoor table for patients with controlled heart conditions and high blood pressure:

Iftaree menu:

Lentil soup, green salad, yoghurt, compote, vegetable dish with olive oil, boiled lean meat, fruit, harmless liquid drink. Iftaree should be started with fluid intake. Because blood pressure that can fall all day will rise because of fluid intake. Iftaree must be eaten slowly, should be consumed in the convenience of 1-2 hours.

Suhoor menu: 

Classical Turkish breakfast is the most convenient suhoor meal. Low-salt and low-fat feta cheese, olives and olive oil, whole wheat bread, yellow cheese toast, hard-boiled eggs, tea and water.

Indeed, Mediterranean cuisine is practical, healthy and enough food that should be applied in Ramadan.
